Job Description
Summary / Objective:
Provide an enriched atmosphere where students learn subject matter and/or skills that contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible members of society. Facilitate learning and guide students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation. Responsible to the building principal and department director where assigned.
Essential Job Functions
Support academic programming and progress of individual students and/or small groups with identified significant needs.
Provide student-specific personal care and support.
Assist with daily classroom activities, data collection, sanitizing equipment and materials, and provide support to staff.
Sit for long periods and manage numerous distractions while maintaining visual, auditory, and ambulatory acuity.
Move quickly in response to student needs; lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Additional Qualifications
Applicant must have the knowledge, skills, and abilities sufficient to perform the function of the position. Must be able to provide student‑specific personal care support. Previous experience in school settings or with children with special needs is required. Strong verbal communication skills, quick responsiveness, teamwork, positive attitude, and upper body strength to lift 50 lbs. are required. Paraprofessional experience preferred. Bilingual skills preferred, but not required.
Other Duties
Other duties may be assigned as needed. Regular attendance is required.
