
Teacher Assistant - Part-Time (21-29 hours per week)

Concordia University Chicago (CUC) invites applications for a full-time, non-exempt position of Teacher Assistant in the Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC). This position reports directly to the Director of the Early Childhood Education Center and is located in River Forest, IL.
The Teacher Assistant collaborates with the Lead Teacher to support the physical, social, cognitive, spiritual, and emotional development of the children in the Early Childhood Education Center through a nurturing, Christ-centered, and developmentally appropriate environment.
Part-Time (21 - 29 hours per week).
Responsibilities
Fosters the development of each child spiritually, socially, intellectually, physically, and emotionally
Collaborates with head teacher to support curriculum by implementing plans outlined by head teacher as directed
Prepares and assists with the physical preparations and clean-up of classroom activities as outlined in each classroom's list of duties
Maintains responsibility for the health and safety of the children
Promotes the Center's mission/vision statement
Maintains appropriate contact with and provides support for parents and families
Serves as a center-wide substitute as needed
Assists with monitoring and supervising the work and attendance of lab students, observation/methods students, and student teachers as needed
Follows standards set by DCFS (Department of Child and Family Services), NLSA (National Lutheran School Association) and NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children)

Skill Sets
Strong administrative skills, including related computer and technology skills
Superior verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Ability to organize and prioritize tasks
Ability to work with and cooperate with supervisory staff at all levels
Ability to review, understand, and apply concepts presented at conferences and/or professional literature
Minimum Experience Required
1 year of experience as an assistant teacher in an Early Childhood Education Center preferred
Education Requirements
High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
