Network Engineer (SD-WAN)
Primary Purpose
Support the design, deployment, and operations of secure SD-WAN architectures for government and classified network environments, ensuring reliable performance and compliance with security standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
Implement and support SD-WAN solutions Versa Networks SD-WAN/ across enterprise environments
Assist with integration of SD-WAN into existing network infrastructure
Configure and maintain secure overlay networks, IPSec tunnels, segmentation policies, and routing protocols
Monitor and troubleshoot WAN and SD-WAN performance issues, escalating complex problems as needed
Support application performance optimization using SD-WAN features such as QoS, path selection, and traffic steering
Assist in implementing secure access and segmentation policies aligned with zero‑trust principles
Contribute to Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC) and Cross‑Domain solution deployments
Apply and maintain compliance with National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) guidelines and Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) STIGs
Perform system testing, validation, and documentation for SD‑WAN deployments
Support network monitoring and analytics using centralized SD‑WAN management tools (e.g., Versa Director, Analytics)
Assist in developing network diagrams, configurations, and documentation
Collaborate with senior engineers, government staff, and subcontractors on implementation activities
Participate in customer meetings and provide technical input as needed
Travel to customer or lab environments for deployment and support activities (as required)
Follow organizational policies, including security, compliance, and safety requirements
Maintain eligibility for required government security clearance
Skills and Knowledge
Hands‑on experience with SD‑WAN platforms, including Cisco, Aruba, and Versa Networks
Familiarity with Versa SASE components (Director, Analytics, Gateway)
Understanding of WAN technologies (MPLS, broadband, VPNs, BGP, OSPF)
Basic to intermediate knowledge of network security concepts (IPSec, firewalls, segmentation)
Familiarity with National Institute of Standards and Technology RMF and Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency DAAPM processes
Experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools
Ability to follow network design documentation and implementation plans
Experience with documentation tools such as Microsoft Visio
Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work in a team environment
Good written and verbal communication skills
Desired Certifications
CCNA or CCNP (Enterprise or SD‑WAN track preferred)
Versa Certified SD‑WAN Associate (VCSA) or working toward VCSP
CompTIA Security+ (or equivalent baseline certification)
Additional certifications (Aruba, Juniper, or cloud) are a plus
Pay Range
$60,100 - $123,200
