Description
We are seeking an experienced Turnaround Material Lead to support a refinery turnaround project. This role is responsible for overseeing all material management activities before and during the turnaround, ensuring the right materials are available at the right time to support safe and efficient execution.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate all material management activities for the turnaround scope
Ensure materials are properly planned, ordered, tracked, and staged ahead of execution
Work closely with planning, procurement, warehouse, and field execution teams
Verify Bills of Materials (BOMs) against job plans and scope
Monitor material status, identify shortages, and proactively resolve issues
Oversee receiving, inspection, storage, and staging of turnaround materialsli>
Ensure materials are delivered to the field in alignment with the schedule
Maintain accurate inventory tracking and documentation
Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to expedite critical items
Support cost control efforts by minimizing surplus and preventing delays
Enforce safety, environmental, and quality standards in all material handling activities
Build relationships with material vendors and obtain quotes as needed
Track and speak to long lead materials
Lead Bag & Tag personnel
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in material management within refinery or petrochemical turnarounds
Strong understanding of turnaround processes, planning, and execution
Experience with inventory systems and material tracking tools (e.g., SAP & IPS)
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication and coordination skills across cross-functional teams
Familiarity with warehouse operations and logistics in an industrial setting
Forklift certified
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience as a Material Lead or similar leadership role in a turnaround
Experience working on large-scale refinery or petrochemical projects
Experience establishing a new warehouse
