Shipping and Receiving Associate

The Shipping and Receiving Associate works in a busy warehouse environment, handling both incoming and outgoing electrical supplies. This role focuses on accurately packaging, labeling, and processing a wide range of productsfrom small parts to large electrical spoolswhile using computer systems and scanners to manage inventory, set up shipments, and coordinate with vendors. The position requires strong attention to detail, consistent accuracy, and the flexibility to work varying shift lengths based on workload.
Responsibilities

Work in either the shipping or receiving area of the warehouse, depending on operational needs.
Package and ship electrical supplies, including small boxed parts and large electrical spools of non-live wiring.
Label all outgoing products accurately and ensure proper documentation for each shipment.
Unload incoming trucks in the loading or receiving areas using appropriate material handling equipment.
Receive, unpack, and verify incoming orders, confirming that all items match the packing lists and purchase orders.
Input product and shipment information into computer systems using scanners and basic data entry.
Use computer systems to set up shipments, create shipping documents, and coordinate with vendors and carriers.
Track and monitor inventory levels in the system, ensuring accurate records for all incoming and outgoing materials.
Perform order picking and packing activities, selecting the correct items and quantities for customer orders.
Load outgoing shipments onto trucks or flatbeds in a safe and organized manner.
Use pallet jacks and, where required, forklifts to move, stage, and organize materials within the warehouse.
Conduct inventory control tasks, including cycle counts, to maintain accurate warehouse inventory records.
Use RF scanners to scan products and update inventory and shipment status in real time.
Perform general material handling duties, including moving, stacking, and organizing products.
Complete basic data entry tasks in systems such as SAP or similar inventory management software.
Follow all safety procedures, including proper lifting techniques and use of required personal protective equipment.
Maintain a clean and organized work area in both shipping and receiving zones.
Work the full duration of assigned shifts, which may be 8, 10, or 12 hours, and remain until the work is completed.
Work weekends when required during busy periods to meet operational demands.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Baton Rouge, LA.
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.00/hr.
