About the Role
Seeking an Instructional Designer with strong foundational ID skills and hands‑on video production experience supporting training across a utilities environment.
Ideal for an early‑career instructional designer (2–3 years) comfortable designing learning experiences and producing high‑quality video‑based training.
Design, develop, and maintain learning solutions that support operational, technical, safety, and customer‑focused training, with strong emphasis on video.
Remote with occasional in‑person depending on video shoots.
Skills
Core Instructional Design Skills.
Apply instructional design principles and adult learning theory to create effective, engaging learning solutions.
Partner with SMEs to analyze learning needs and translate complex utility concepts into clear, learner‑centered content.
Design and develop training deliverables
Instructor‑led training (ILT) and virtual instructor‑led training (VILT).
Microlearning assets.
Video‑based learning solutions.
Create storyboards, scripts, and learning outlines aligned to performance objectives.
Maintain and update existing learning materials to ensure accuracy, consistency, and relevance.
Ensure learning solutions meet accessibility, usability, and quality standards.
Lead video pre‑production activities
Writing video scripts and interview questions.
Creating shot lists and production plans.
Coordinating schedules, locations, and SMEs.
Set up and conduct video shoots
Camera, lighting, and basic audio setup.
Coaching on‑screen participants as needed.
Syncing audio and video.
Trimming and cutting footage.
Adding titles, lower thirds, callouts, and simple animated elements.
Incorporating graphics, screen recordings, or motion elements as appropriate.
Follow brand, style, and quality standards for all video assets.
Education
4 years of experience in instructional design, learning development, or a related field.
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Learning Technologies, Communications, or related discipline. Equivalent experience considered.
Working knowledge of instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE or similar).
Experience developing learning content for adult learners in a corporate or technical environment.
Hands‑on experience with video production and editing.
Instructional design and development tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline/Rise, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar).
Video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Camtasia, or similar).
Basic Understanding of
Camera operation.
Lighting fundamentals.
Experience integrating video into Vimeo, e‑learning, or blended learning solutions.
Required for Consideration
A portfolio or selection of work samples showcasing video examples, e‑Learning, and other training‑based materials.
