Senior Associate Counsel – Aflac – Columbus, GA (hybrid/remote)
– Salary: $130,000–$165,000. Posting end: December 31, 2025.
Work Designation
Hybrid: if within 50 miles of the Aflac offices in Columbus, GA or Columbia, SC, the role is hybrid, with at least 60% of the work week in the office; the remainder from home.
Remote: if more than 50 miles away, the role is remote, may be asked to come to office for business needs.
Qualifications
Juris Doctor from an ABA‑accredited law school.
Seven years of legal experience in law firm and corporate settings.
Excellent legal research, negotiation, judgment, and communication skills.
Experience with SEC reporting, finance, mergers & acquisitions, and/or complex litigation highly preferred.
Ability to prioritize, coordinate projects and cases, and provide business‑oriented legal advice.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Provide legal advice and recommendations to executives and management on complex matters with material dollar impact.
Evaluate potential legal issues related to business practices and policies, advising management accordingly.
Assess impact of new laws and regulations on business practices.
Apply knowledge of 1934 Act reporting and 1933 Act registered and exempt offerings, as well as SEC reporting and compliance, to advise on complex financial matters.
Conduct detailed legal research, consult with outside counsel on strategies.
Operate under general direction of legal team management.
Perform other duties as required.
Travel
Less than or equal to 10%.
Total Rewards
Salary range: $130,000–$165,000. Compensation decisions consider education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and peer compensation. Salary range does not include incentive pay or benefits.
