Job Title

The purpose of this job is to perform immediate clerical work involving customer billing and accounts. This position works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.
Essential Functions/Typical Tasks

Prepares and sends invoices, purge and file records, prepares reports and monitors account for delinquent status.
Makes payment arrangements with delinquent customers with realistic solutions.
Responds to customer complaints and inquiries regarding utility bills and policies, services, collections, and connection and disconnection of service.
Posts payments.
Opens and closes utility accounts.
Prepares adjustments for corrections and/or transfers.
Prepares accounts receivable invoices and delinquent spreadsheets.
Reviews work orders and meter readings in accounts.
Performs related work as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Thorough knowledge of utility billing terminology, methods, procedures and equipment. General knowledge of standard office procedures, practices and equipment. Can understand and follow oral and written directions. Able to perform mathematical computations with speed and accuracy. Skilled in the use of a variety of data entry and office equipment and some typing. Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and customers. Skilled in the operation of standard office and data entry equipment and software applications.
Education and Experience & Special Requirements

Requires High School diploma or GED equivalent six (6) months of experience in customer service, billings, finance, bookkeeping; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
