Position Summary
The Pharmacy Resident ensures accurate and timely distribution of medications and pharmaceutical supplies in accordance with established procedures. Responsibilities include interpreting, evaluating, and verifying medication orders, assessing drug interactions, providing drug information to clinicians and patients, maintaining accurate patient profiles and controlled substance records, managing pharmaceutical inventories, maintaining emergency drug supplies, and supervising Pharmacy Technicians. The Resident participates in clinical programs such as Anticoagulation Management, Pharmacokinetic Monitoring, Adverse Drug Event Monitoring, patient care rounding, pharmacotherapy optimization, and medication safety initiatives. The role supports organizational goals by delivering quality customer service, engaging in performance improvement, and demonstrating teamwork.

Qualifications

Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an ACPE‑accredited college.

Current New Jersey State license as a Registered Pharmacist required upon acceptance (by September 1st).

Proficiency with computer, data analytic, and clinical applications.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred certifications: ACLS and CPR.

Conference Attendance
Pharmacy Residents must attend the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting (December) and the Eastern States Conference for Pharmacy Residents (May).

Performance Expectations
The Resident will demonstrate the ability to perform the department‑specific competencies listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool and as assigned annually.

Work Environment
Exposure to hazards typical of a hospital setting, including infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury. The role requires standing approximately 60% of the time and occasional reaching.

Reporting Relationship
Reports to department leadership.
