
NURSING STUDENT/APPRENTICE, ICU Per Diem

Job Summary
Provides direct and indirect patient care in the medical-surgical setting under the direct supervision of a registered nurse preceptor. Communicates with RN preceptor, as appropriate, about changes in patient’s clinical condition including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Participates in the department's performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.
Job Duties / Responsibilities
Ability to perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy. This includes the pediatric, geriatric, and the general patient population.
Ability to adequately assess and reassess pain, utilize appropriate pain management techniques, report to RN preceptor regarding patient pain assessment, and educate the patient and family regarding pain management.
Demonstrates supportive behaviors necessary for performing bedside report using IMAP & SBAR (both accomplished in partnership with patient inside room).
Performs patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient’s age.

Qualifications
Currently enrolled in an accredited School of Nursing
Has completed the fundamentals course (and verified proof) in nursing school
Certified as a C.N.A., EMT or Paramedic
Current BLS certification
