Our Newburyport location at 260 Merrimack Street is easy to access and conveniently situated just minutes off I‑95 and Route 1, making commuting simple from both the North Shore and southern New Hampshire. The site is located along the Merrimack River, offering a scenic waterfront setting, and is just a short distance from downtown Newburyport’s shops, restaurants, and walking paths.

This site is a dynamic, community‑based multispecialty practice dedicated to delivering high‑quality, patient‑centered care. It brings together a collaborative team of physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and support staff offering a broad range of services, including primary care, cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, neurology, pulmonology, rheumatology, and additional specialty care. With a strong connection to the world‑class resources of Mass General Brigham, the Newburyport practice combines the feel of a local community clinic with the clinical excellence, innovation, and support of a leading academic healthcare system.

Job Summary
We are seeking a full‑time 40‑hour Medical Assistant to support our Internal Medicine team. The desired schedule for this position is Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm or four 10‑hour days from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm. This role supports healthcare teams by assisting with both clinical and non‑clinical patient services under the direction of healthcare providers. Key responsibilities include taking vital signs, documenting patient information, scheduling appointments, and managing patient flow. This role involves direct interaction with patients to ensure their comfort and address concerns, as well as collaboration with physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff to facilitate efficient care.

Essential Functions

Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height.

Show patients to examination rooms and prepare necessary equipment for healthcare providers.

Record patients’ medical history, vital statistics, or information such as test results in medical records.

Perform general office duties, such as answering telephones, taking dictation, or completing insurance forms. Acts as a liaison with other departments and advocates for patients with a positive customer service approach.

Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing.

Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean and supplies stocked.

Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.

Qualifications
Education

High School Diploma or Equivalent required.

Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No.

Licenses and Credentials

Basic Life Support (BLS Certification – data conversion – various issuers preferred).

Certified Medical Assistant – data conversion – various issuers preferred.

Experience

Direct MA experience or medical field work 0‑1 year preferred.
