Job Overview

WELLNESS EDUCATION SPECIALIST I-F/C located at Homestead Correctional Institution, Education Department, State of Florida. Salary: $49,440.30 annually.
Responsibilities

Lead the dynamic Wellness Education program, planning, administering, and teaching engaging classroom activities for inmates.
Supervise and coordinate recreational activities, ensuring security and direct supervision for all participants.
Collaborate with medical and security staff to create wellness programs that support the social recovery of inmates.
Monitor and assess inmate interests, transforming assessments into actionable goals and performance tasks to enhance wellness education.
Organize and oversee special events and competitive wellness activities, including coordinating with outside groups for recreational and cultural experiences.

Beginning July 1, 2024, there is no longer a reemployment limitation; beginning with the 7th calendar month from the member's distribution date, there are no restrictions on working for an FRS employer. Requirements

Optionally, please note that official transcripts are required when submitting a college/university degree.
A high school diploma or its equivalent.
One year of professional experience in conducting recreational activities or health/wellness. (Correctional experience can substitute for one year of the required work experience.)
Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview, and/or during reference checks.
Additional Information

Background Screening Requirement : The Florida Department of Corrections requires all applicants and volunteers to pass a Level 2 background check as per Chapter 435, Florida Statutes before they can begin working or volunteering.
