Requirements
The
Ophthalmic Diagnostic Medical Technician
is responsible for performing diagnostic testing on patients such as fundus photography,
angiography , OCTs, color vision testing, pachymetry, visual fields,
B-scans . This position may also be responsible for assisting Ophthalmologists and Optometrists by performing ophthalmic clinical functions as necessary including patient work ups and administering eye medications.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Responsible for opening and closing diagnostic area, maintaining equipment and rooms in working conditions.
Providing diagnostic services and facilitating in clinical research.
Performing test based on a physician's orders.
Perform visual field testing: Humphrey
Perform OCT testing: Heidelberg and Cirrus
Fundus Photography
Fluorescein Angiography
Slit Lamp Photography
External Photography
Corneal Topography: Atlas and Pentacam
Specular Microscopy
Pachymetry
B-scan
Color testing: Ishihara and D15
Timely and efficient transferring test results into electronic medical records.
Update patient records using high level of proficiency within the EMS or other related system.
Comply with all HIPPA regulations in all interactions with patient information
Other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Preferred: Minimal of one year in Ophthalmology, Certification, Certification through JCAHPO
Required: Minimal one year working in an optical environment
Skills and Abilities
Superior interpersonal and communications skills.
Ability to perform manifest refraction is required
Ability to perform Goldmann tonometry is required.
Ability to effectively multitask
Attentive to detail and accuracy.
