
High School English Teacher

Southern Boone High School is looking for an English Teacher to join our high school faculty for the 2026-27 school year. The ideal candidate will foster an engaging classroom environment that promotes critical thinking, strong communication skills, and a love of literature and language. This position involves teaching core English courses, which may include English I–IV.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and deliver standards-based English lessons that align with the curriculum and state guidelines.
Use a variety of instructional strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
Incorporate literature, writing workshops, discussions, and technology to support active learning.
Assess student progress through assignments, quizzes, tests, essays, and projects, and provide timely feedback.
Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance.
Foster a classroom culture of inquiry, respect, and academic excellence, in alignment with the school’s Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework.
Actively participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to collaborate on instructional strategies, data analysis, and student interventions.
Collaborate with fellow teachers, administrators, and parents to support student development.
Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in English Education or a related field.
Valid teaching certification/license in Missouri for secondary social studies.
Previous teaching experience at the high school level (preferred).
Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
