Purpose:

The Overnight Distribution & Logistics Manager VII at

John F. Kennedy Airport Distribution Center , is responsible for supporting the Assistant DC Director with managing overall warehouse and distribution center activities for airport operations with $400+ million in revenue accountability. This role involves assisting with warehouse personnel leadership, inventory management, vendor coordination, and regulatory compliance while coordinating operations across multiple lines of business including retail, restaurants, and duty‑free shops to ensure operational efficiency and accuracy.

Essential Functions:

Distribution & Logistics Manager is an expert in specific critical functions for specific line of business such as retail, duty free or food and beverage department. Primary point of contact for all organizational issues in relation to this line of business.

Oversees specific function of the distribution center on any given day: receiving, outbound or overnight replenishment process based on assignment

Assists with managing inventory accuracy including transportation of orders/returns, product rotation, temperature control procedures, and reverse logistics using SAP, CrunchTime, and retail management systems

Supervises day‑to‑day warehouse activities including staff scheduling, shift coverage, and operational continuity while providing excellent service to internal and external customers in receiving, processing, and distributing merchandise

Supports vendor relationship management to ensure proper stock levels support sales objectives; assists with coordinating distribution operations across retail, restaurants, and duty‑free shops while helping resolve delivery issues, shortages, and quality concerns

Assists with monitoring and reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs) including inbound throughput, labor efficiency, and operational metrics; supports implementation of contingency plans for distribution center operations

Supports compliance with U.S. Customs, FDA, and other regulatory bodies; assists with maintaining accurate records especially for bonded merchandise

Assists with enforcing food safety protocols including FIFO stock rotation, expiration date monitoring, and food safety compliance; participates in Quality Assurance activities and maintains security of food storage areas

Supports training, coaching, and development of warehouse staff while assisting with performance management following company policies and union agreements where applicable

Maintains warehouse organization including fixtures, equipment storage, bin locations, and physical inventory processes; reviews incoming orders and ensures accurate data entry into systems

Assists with communication and collaboration with airport management teams to support operational goals while coordinating between associates and management teams

Operates company vehicles safely and maintains compliance with all transportation and safety requirements

Reporting Relationship & Role Information:

This position typically reports to the Assistant DC Director within the assigned location

The DC Distribution & Logistics Manager VII position as described falls under the Fair Labor Standards Act as a non‑exempt position

Requires scheduling flexibility to work various shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as operational needs require

Physical Requirements:
Ability to walk extensively throughout warehouses and retail locations for extended periods

Lift, carry, and move inventory items up to 50 pounds regularly

Visual acuity to review inventory records, conduct physical counts, and analyze data reports

Work in varying warehouse and retail environments with different temperature and noise levels

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment:

The combination of education and professional experience must exceed 6 years:
In a management role: Requires at least 2 years of experience in inventory management, merchandising, or retail operations in food and beverage or merchandise operations

In a technical role: Requires 6+ years of experience in stock operations, inventory management, or supply chain coordination

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or related program can count for 2 of the 6-year requirement

Requires 2 years minimum driving experience with valid state driver's license

Must be able to pass government background checks where required for working in a Customs Bonded Warehouse

Specialized Training:
Basic understanding of food safety protocols and HACCP principles preferred

Training that leads to an understanding of U.S. Customs and FDA regulatory compliance requirements preferred

Warehouse management systems training (SAP, CrunchTime preferred)

OSHA safety and hazardous material handling awareness

Excellent time management and prioritization skills with ability to support multiple concurrent warehouse operations and maintain accuracy in inventory tracking and data entry processes

Valid driver's license with clean driving record and ability to operate commercial vehicles and heavy warehouse equipment safely; CDL or commercial truck driving experience preferred but not required, especially in urban locations

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (intermediate Excel for reporting) and ability to learn warehouse management systems including SAP and CrunchTime quickly

Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively communicate with customers, vendors, team members, and management while reading and comprehending technical instructions and policy documents

Ability to assist with vendor relationships and support multi‑business operations across retail, restaurant, and duty‑free environments effectively

Problem‑solving abilities to resolve operational issues and elevate complex matters appropriately

Demonstrated history of understanding business needs, stakeholder requirements, and individual employee circumstances

Demonstrated history of creating and maintaining positive work environments
