Nutrition Technician

The St. Louis County Department of Public Health seeks a Nutrition Technician to manage nutrition counseling and healthcare/social service referrals based on assessed needs, promote breastfeeding in the WIC clinic and the community, and promote healthy eating.
Position Details
This is a full time, grant funded position. The Nutrition Technician will be assigned to work in the Koch Park office located at 2137 Charbonier, Florissant, MO 63031. The typical starting salary is $16.39 - $19.67 hourly. Additionally, we offer a comprehensive benefits package and a generous Paid Time Off (PTO) policy.
Responsibilities
Determine WIC eligibility by obtaining and assessing anthropometer/hematological data and nutritional intake.
Assess and assign health
utrition risk factors according to WIC policy and procedures.
Provide nutrition counseling and healthcare/social service referrals based on assessed needs.
Provide breastfeeding promotion, education and support; instruct participants on use of breast pumps and maintain inventory.
Document health data assessment, education, referrals and participant goals in the WIC computer system.
Issue eWIC cards for age-appropriate nutritious food and instruct on use in the grocery store.
Assist in the development and implementation of DPH WIC nutrition goals and objectives.
Perform related work as required.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics or a related field from an accredited college or university.
At least 15 semester hours in food and nutrition from a 4-year program, including at least one course in diet therapy or medical nutrition therapy I & II and one course in community nutrition or nutrition in the life cycle.
Transcripts may be required to verify coursework prior to interview process.
