Job Overview
A Patient Care Technician (PCT) works with nurses and doctors to provide patient care. The PCT monitors vital signs, assists with mobility, hygiene, feeding, and samples collection, and reports changes in patient condition.
Responsibilities
Check temperature, heartbeat, and breathing.
Assist patients with movement, dressing, and eating.
Collect samples such as urine.
Report any changes in a patient's condition to a nurse.
Assist with patient walks, hygiene, weighing patients, and collecting vitals.
Support paperwork and administrative tasks to help the hospital operate smoothly.
Education
High school diploma or GED.
Training
BLS CPR certificate required. Orientation includes CPR training if not previously obtained.
Experience
Completed STNA, CNA, or Patient Care Technician/Assistant training.
Assisted with patient care in the past five years (e.g., temperature monitoring, bathing, helping with restroom use).
Currently in nursing school and completed one clinical rotation.
Other Skills
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and remain courteous.
Computer literacy.
Organizational skills.
Strong verbal and listening skills.
Hospital experience is a bonus.
