Job Overview
This is a daytime shift working 7:30 am – 4:30 pm. The Thomson‑Hood Veterans Center is a 285-bed long‑term care facility located in beautiful Wilmore, Kentucky that is committed to serving Kentucky’s Veterans by fostering independence, preserving dignity, and providing compassionate care. We are currently seeking a motivated Registered Nurse to work in our nursing department as a Charge Nurse (Infection Control and Preventionist).

Responsibilities

Experience in infection control and data collection, including keeping employee vaccine records current, tracking and reporting on resident infections, and analyzing trends and patterns.

Lead investigations of possible incidences of infection and implement infection control policy accurately.

Organize and work with the staff development coordinator to facilitate scheduled training and in‑services with staff to educate on infection control policy and procedures.

Organize and facilitate infection meetings quarterly and interpret reports to the committee.

Minimum Requirements
Education: See Special Requirements. Experience: Must have two years of experience as a Registered Nurse.

Substitutions
Bachelor's degree in nursing will substitute for one year of the required experience. No substitution of experience for education.

Special Requirements
Must be licensed in Kentucky as a registered nurse or possess a valid work permit issued by the Kentucky Board of Nursing. Must maintain any required licensure, certification, or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification.

Working Conditions
Incumbents work with patients, clients, or employees who may have been exposed to infectious diseases which may require following safety procedures.

Probationary Period
Initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
