Major Responsibilities
Produce radiographs of technical quality to demonstrate primarily peripheral, viscera, and neurovascular systems, with occasional work in non-vascular imaging performed in the Special Procedure Laboratory.
Select, implement, and modify exam technical factors to produce diagnostic radiographs, using knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and radiographic technology.
Demonstrate technical skill as a scrub technologist.
Perform technical functions related to equipment, tray preparation, and contrast media; stay abreast of equipment updates.
Operate imaging equipment, including film changer and digital imaging computer.
Provide a clean procedural environment to ensure procedures are performed aseptically.
Assist credentialed radiologists in angiography and revascularization procedures, supporting proper use of procedural supplies.
Provide technical support to credentialed angiographers during implementation of new technologies (atherectomy, stent placements, new devices).
Understand atherosclerotic disease process and bleeding factors; convey understanding to other care givers to enhance technical performance.
Prepare equipment, tray, and contrast media for ordered exams.
Prepare and maintain laboratory records, verify patient exams, complete requisitions, and record data using RIS/HIS.
Assist in inventory management and material availability.
Cooperate with nursing unit staff, allied health professionals, and physicians to promote efficient and quality care.
Respond to patient emergencies and assist in stabilizing patients.
Schedule patients in coordination with nursing personnel and angiographers.
Instruct patients and alleviate concerns to provide optimal patient experience.
Perform daily quality control testing of equipment; report problems to Coordinator.
Provide personal flexibility to the needs of the patient, including on‑call response.
Education and Experience
Graduate of AMA‑approved School of Radiologic Technology.
ARRT Registration.
Knowledge of sterile technique.
Experience working with diverse age groups (children, adolescents, adults).
Proficient in operating basic angiographic equipment.
Basic computer skills preferred.
CPR Certification.
IDNS License.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Able to respond to requests to work on short notice.
Flexible in starting times to meet demand.
Willing to work overtime as requested.
Pregnancy precludes fluoroscopy work with patients.
Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance; for greater lifts, use patient‑handling equipment with assistance when available.
Competent Level Qualifications
Effective communication and teamwork with other staff.
Advanced knowledge of anatomy, radiographic equipment, vascular and interventional procedures.
