Position Title
Imaging Service Assistant – Per Diem (HOSP AST 3 PD)

Key Responsibilities
Provide technical, patient care and clerical support to technologists and radiologists by scheduling procedures, processing radiographs, transporting patients, preparing patients and equipment for imaging, downloading outside CDs into PACS, operating film digitizing equipment, CD burners, document scanners and similar accessories. Demonstrate knowledge of computers and new technology such as PACS, Computerized Radiography (CR) and Digital Radiographs (DR). Provide knowledge of various imaging procedures to prepare patients and equipment. Contribute to cost containment by maintaining par levels for film orders, office supplies, forms, linen and other medical supplies. Participate in work organization and scheduling selection, training and evaluation of staff as a member of the work team. Perform cross‑training to support seamless operations within the Imaging Department. Hold working knowledge of RIS, HIS and medical terminology. Perform advanced technical tasks such as quality control, performance‑improvement, safety officer duties and/or radioactive waste management. Job standards are at the expert level.

Minimum Qualifications

BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to obtain BART within six months.

Experience in a hospital radiology department, knowledge of RIS and HIS.

Computer knowledge required, including quality control, safety control and/or radioactive waste procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

Three years of related experience with scheduling or coordinating imaging exams or procedures in a multi‑specialty service.

Special Conditions

Must be able to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays and occasional overtime.

Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre‑employment physical.

Additional Requirements

Must comply with University of California vaccination policy and any public health directives.

Life‑support certifications (BLS, NRP, ACLS, etc.) must include hands‑on practice and in‑person skills assessment.
