General Summary
Under the direction of the physician/provider, provides nursing care in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.

Education, Licensure, Registration And Experience

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

CPR certification

Demonstrated proficiency in acute care nursing, knowledge and skills

Current state licensure

Essential Functions

Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to implement medical plan of care, nursing intervention, and procedures as necessary for the care of the patient.

Follows the office exposure control plans for bloodborne and airborne pathogens.

Schedules all patients for any surgical procedure requested by the physician/provider. Must follow each individual physician’s schedule.

Fulfilling patient care responsibilities which may include: accompanying patients to exam/procedure room, assisting patients with transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, and assessing patient’s general condition, and ensuring that needs are met.

Performs all nursing duties, collecting history, vital signs, and assist physician(s) with examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments, and provides direct patient care as ordered.

Obtains prior authorizations and pre‑certifications as needed and manages referrals through EMR.

Documents all interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed or prescribed and hospital data in the electronic medical record. Responsible for charting patient encounter day of visit to ensure documented, organized and chronological medical record.

Labels, documents, and tracks all specimens or tests ordered/received following set standards and reports all test results to the physician.

Promotes wellness by providing patient education materials and communicating the physicians’ advice and instructions to patients/families and assisting with scheduling appointments, tests or procedures serving as a role model for customer service.

Fulfilling environment responsibilities by setting up instruments and equipment according to protocol and cleaning exam/procedure rooms between patient visits adhering to infection control/safety guidelines.

Attends all mandatory education programs and can describe responsibilities related to general safety and regulatory compliance.

Appearance is professional, neat, clean, and appropriate for the work environment. Wears proper photo identification badge while on duty.

Attends monthly staff meetings and participates in monthly rounding process with manager to assure effective and timely two‑way communications.

Participates in and completes required department‑specific education and training programs and can describe responsibilities related to department safety and specific job‑related hazards.

Follows safety and security policies including exposure control plans/blood‑borne and airborne pathogens.
