
Medical Support Specialist - LPN

Job Description
The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) reports to the Plasma Center Manager and supports plasma center operations by determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and notifying donors of unsuitable results. The specialist works under the guidance of the Center Manager (or Assistant Manager) for operational matters and under the management of the Center Physician for medical issues. Familiarity with plasma collection industry regulations and manufacturing environments is required. The role follows guidance from BioLife Medical Affairs and provides center-level support of environmental, health and safety, and emergency response protocols.
How You Will Contribute
Determine donor eligibility, including proper management of informed consent, AIDS education, and confidential self‑exclusion.
Conduct medical history interviews, physical examinations, and blood testing, and review serological protein electrophoresis (SPE).
Evaluate donor reactions and follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including development of center physician standing orders and transport to emergency care facilities.
Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for findings requiring medical or technical guidance.
Support hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health or emergency response services.
Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats within the local community.
What You Bring to Takeda
High school diploma or equivalent, or graduate-level qualification from a recognized nursing program with state requirements.
Current state license or certification (LPN or LVN) where responsibilities are assigned.
Current CPR and AED certification.
Fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy.
Completion of FDA‑approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.

Compensation and Benefits Summary
Hourly wage range: $24.32 – $33.44.
