Lab Tech Phlebotomist
Location: Bullock Correctional Facility, Union Springs, Alabama.

As a Lab Tech Phlebotomist you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to inmates. You will perform venipuncture, finger sticks, and other specimen collection techniques while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and accurate labeling.

Responsibilities

Collect blood and other specimens from patients for laboratory testing.

Verify patient identity and explain procedures to reduce anxiety.

Label specimens accurately and process them for testing, operating centrifuges as needed.

Clean and sterilize equipment, restock supplies, and manage hazardous waste according to OSHA/CLIA standards.

Enter patient information and test orders into databases and requisitions.

Maintain specimen integrity and adhere to safety protocols at all times.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Completion of a phlebotomy technician training program.

Proficiency in blood collection techniques with strong communication and attention to detail.

Active BLS CPR certification (American Heart Association preferred).

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Effective interaction with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues.

Adherence to confidentiality, professionalism, and the Code of Conduct, as well as all facility correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements.

Pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening.
