Summary
This role will support simultaneous interpretation from Japanese to English and English to Japanese for automotive suppliers.
Responsibilities
Convert spoken statements or written materials from Japanese to English and English to Japanese in meeting and office environments.
Conduct simultaneous interpretation, listening, understanding, memorizing, and reproducing content in both languages.
Translate technical, administrative, and presentation documents.
Provide simultaneous interpretation in both directions; if not possible, provide consecutive interpretation.
Translate documents between Japanese and English as needed.
Qualifications
BA or MA in Foreign Language, Linguistics, Translation, Interpreting or native fluency in both English and Japanese.
5+ years of overall experience.
3+ years of relevant simultaneous interpretation experience.
Native-level fluency in English and Japanese, with a BA or BS in automotive, life science, medical, business, PR, or IT fields preferred.
Automotive technical simultaneous interpreter experience preferred.
Experience interpreting for Japanese OEMs preferred.
Language proficiency certification a plus.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
Knowledge of desktop publishing or machine translation software a plus.
