Job Duties
The APS Case Manager performs specialized case management in Adult Protective Services (APS), Division of Adult Advocacy, in Spartanburg. Duties include conducting investigations, assessments, and coordinating protective and preventive services for vulnerable adults. Assist other counties with APS case management as needed.
Investigate vulnerability, abuse, neglect by caregiver, self‑neglect, and exploitation reports of vulnerable adults while respecting their self‑determination.
Provide case management services according to APS policy and procedures, including home visits and legal proceedings, and enter documentation into CAPSS accurately and on time.
Coordinate necessary services to keep the vulnerable adult safe, including temporary and long‑term placements.
Assist law enforcement and/or family court in emergency removal of adults and secure placement in a protective environment.
Maintain professional and harmonious relationships with co‑workers and the community.
Assess the vulnerable adult’s ability to secure long‑term services, such as redirecting funds, securing a guardian or conservator, completing emergency service documents, and connecting to probate or family court.
Ensure that personal identifying information (PII) is properly used, accessed, gathered, shared, and disposed of, and safeguard agency networks and applications.
Perform Red Cross shelter duty or other emergency shelter duty/services as directed.
Perform other duties as required and/or directed.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Public Administration, or a related field.
A Bachelor's degree in any other field and one (1) year of experience in a related field.
