POSITION
Take on a leadership role at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Fayette. The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections seeks motivated and hardworking Corrections Officer 3s. In this role you will supervise subordinate officers to ensure smooth operations within the institution. Expand your experience in corrections while serving as an exemplary leader for staff.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Serve as a Lieutenant performing administrative and supervisory work in the care, custody, control, discipline, and non‑professional counseling of inmates.

Supervise subordinate officers by assigning and monitoring duties.

Conduct inspections of all areas, evaluate employee performance, interview prospective staff, and schedule inmate movements.

Oversee daily schedules, conduct periodic inmate checks, and monitor surveillance of institutional grounds and buildings.

Investigate violations of departmental and institutional policies, directives, and procedures by subordinate staff.

WORK SCHEDULE & ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Full‑time employment, 40 hours per week.

Work hours to be determined, with rotating days off. Pass days will be determined.

Eligible for retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

Telework not permitted.

Salary may be non‑negotiable in some cases.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Experience, Training & Eligibility

One year as a Corrections Officer 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal title).

Four years in corrections security work in a Pennsylvania state or county corrections facility; must complete Department of Corrections training program.

Other Requirements

Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA.

PA residency requirement currently waived for this title.

Must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements

Must pass a background investigation and meet CJIS compliance requirements.
