Position Overview
Millard South High School is seeking a dedicated, energetic, and team‑oriented Varsity Assistant Swim Coach to support the continued success and growth of our swimming and diving program. This individual will work closely with the Head Coach to develop student‑athletes both in and out of the water, fostering a culture of accountability, sportsmanship, and excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in planning and conducting daily swim practices
Provide technical instruction and stroke development for swimmers of varying skill levels
Support strength, conditioning, and dryland training sessions
Help organize and supervise swim meets (home and away)
Promote a positive team culture and strong work ethic
Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and coaching staff
Ensure safety standards are maintained at all times
Qualifications
Prior competitive swimming and/or coaching experience preferred
Strong knowledge of swim techniques, training methods, and meet procedures
Ability to motivate and connect with high school student‑athletes
Current LG/CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Availability for early morning and after‑school practices and meets
Preferred Qualities
Positive attitude and strong leadership skills
Organizational ability and attention to detail
Passion for developing student‑athletes at all levels
Commitment to being a reliable and supportive member of the coaching staff
