Licensed Practical Nurse
Southern Virginia Mental Health Institute, Danville, VA – a 72‑bed Joint Commission accredited state mental health facility.
Pay & Shift
Hiring Range: $53,564, negotiable based on relevant experience.
12‑hour shifts, 7:00 am – 7:30 pm, non‑rotating Pitman schedule.
Requires overtime and rotating weekend work.
Shift Differentials:
1st shift weekend: $3.00 per hour
2nd shift weekday: $3.50 per hour; 2nd shift weekend/holidays: $3.50 per hour
3rd shift weekday: $2.50 per hour; 3rd shift weekend/holidays: $4.00 per hour
Responsibilities
The LPN provides direct patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse, using skills appropriate to training and competency based on each patient’s treatment plan. Assists patients with activities of daily living, teaches and encourages self‑care skills, and records pertinent nursing data.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an approved Licensed Practical Nursing program.
Licensed or eligible to be licensed in Virginia and in good standing.
Active, good‑standing driver’s license.
Required Training
Completion of a consecutive 4‑week New Employee Orientation (8:00 am – 5:00 pm with one‑hour lunch). Orientation includes day‑shift exposure.
Successful completion of BLS, Therapeutic Options (TO), and all other required training upon employment.
Demonstrated effective interpersonal communication, team‑focused care, and a professional approach.
Additional Considerations
Experience in psychiatric, acute‑care, long‑term, or correctional settings.
Veterans and people with national service experience encouraged to apply.
Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English (preferred).
