Job Overview
Salmon River Helicopters, a growing Idaho company, is looking for a team member to support our private and government contracts across the United States. The role involves a variety of aerial operations, including power line construction, firefighting, agricultural services, heavy lift construction, and remote freight delivery. The position does not require relocation; all air travel and lodging expenses to and from contracts will be covered.
Responsibilities
Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance operations such as removal and replacement of aircraft and power plant components, following Company SOP, Manufacturer/OEM data, and maintaining appropriate aircraft records and logs.
Service aircraft with fuel, oil, and other necessary fluids in preparation for flight.
Service and lubricate aircraft and subsystems; remove and install aircraft subsystems and components—including engines, transmissions, rotors, and mechanical flight controls.
Conduct troubleshooting, repairs, cleaning, servicing, inspecting, modifying, and replacing components as needed using approved data to maintain airworthiness.
Use technical expertise to interpret technical manuals, maintenance information, action messages, and other documents.
Perform daily/post‑flight/thru‑flight inspections as required.
Communicate effectively with customers in a courteous and professional manner.
Participate in maintenance test flights and operation checks as required.
Follow all safety procedures and policies at all times.
Complete required paperwork and maintain proficient records of maintenance in compliance with Government and FAA rules and regulations.
Use and operate all equipment safely.
Perform other duties as arise.
Qualifications
A&P Mechanic license.
Current USFS Card or ability to obtain one.
US Military technical school or specialized training course is preferred.
Thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical troubleshooting, repair, and replacement procedures.
Working knowledge of technical publications.
Minimum 2 years experience working with a UH60, Bell Medium/Bell 412.
Experience with aircraft avionics.
Minimum 5 years of helicopter maintenance experience.
Ability and willingness to perform maintenance in an outdoor environment.
Ability to work well with others.
Must be able to work independently in remote locations.
Ability to communicate effectively with management and team members.
Additional Skills Desired
CDL with hazmat endorsement or ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire at company expense.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift 75 lbs., bend, stoop, squat, walk, stand, kneel, crunch, crawl, climb, and reach as demanded by the position.
