
Compliance Data Analyst

Group One Trading is seeking a Compliance Data Analyst to sit at the intersection of technology and compliance, building and maintaining the data infrastructure that powers our trade surveillance, investigations, and regulatory reporting programs. You'll work closely with the Compliance Team and technology departments to design analytical tools, optimize surveillance systems, and provide quantitative support for complex compliance matters. The ideal candidate combines strong technical skills in Python and SQL with intellectual curiosity and a commitment to accuracy in a high-stakes environment.

We continue to expand our presence on exchanges as the options trading space evolves and grows. Armed with expertise developed through a rigorous training program, our traders provide competitive liquidity across a broad range of securities. We manage portfolios of thousands of securities and electronically stream two-sided quotes across multiple exchanges. Group One is wholly owned by its founders and employees, and all our trading is proprietary, placing both the rewards for our success and managerial oversight directly in our team's hands.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Design, build, and maintain trade surveillance applications and analytical tools using Python and SQL
Create automated reports and dashboards for surveillance metrics, testing results, and compliance performance indicators
Configure and optimize surveillance system rules and parameters to improve detection effectiveness and reduce false positives
Develop custom detection algorithms and scenarios for specialized or emerging compliance risks
Provide advanced quantitative analysis for complex compliance investigations, including reconstruction of trading patterns and statistical anomaly detection
Create data visualizations to illustrate trading behavior for investigation reports and regulatory submissions
Support operational reporting to external compliance data platforms, including the Consolidated Audit Trail, ensuring data feeds are accurate, complete, and timely
Collaborate with the Data Platform and technology teams to identify data sources, maintain reporting infrastructure, and develop integrated solutions
Maintain detailed documentation of data processes, system configurations, and analytical methods
Provide technical training and guidance to compliance staff on data tools, query techniques, and analytical platforms
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
Strong proficiency in Python and SQL, with hands‑on experience using data analysis libraries such as Pandas, Polars, and NumPy, and visualization tools such as Plotly, Matplotlib, or Seaborn
Experience building analytical tools from requirements through deployment
Familiarity with data visualization and dashboard platforms such as PowerBI, Grafana, or Jupyter
Comfortable with Git version control and a Windows development environment
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, understandable explanations for non‑technical compliance staff
Background in financial services, trading, or compliance environments preferred; proprietary trading firm, exchange, broker‑dealer, or regulatory organization experience is a bonus
Familiarity with compliance surveillance systems or regulatory reporting is an advantage
Machine learning or statistical modeling experience for pattern detection or anomaly detection highly valued
FINRA SIE and Series 57 licenses required within six months of employment
Bachelor's or Master's degree in related field with a demonstrated focus in a quantitative or technical field
This is a role that requires a significant in‑office presence.
