Secretary - Level 1 (Part-Time) (2026-2027 School Year Start)

Location: Caledonia Elementary School
Reports To: Principal
Work Year: 193 Days Days (27.5 per week)
Salary Range: Starting wage is $15.76 or more depending on experience
Position Summary
Performs a wide variety of secretarial and administrative support services to facilitate the efficient operation of a campus office and to support the principal while maintaining confidentiality regarding students, parents, finances, and staff. Coordinates and monitors assigned activities and provides information, recommendations, or direction as required to serve and support students, staff, and school administrators. Perform a variety of clerical and secretarial functions in the processing of students and student records. Receives school district constituencies and other visitors and answers and directs incoming telephone calls. Prepares school correspondence and reports.
Essential Functions/Primary Responsibilities

Highly organized and efficient professional who is passionate about supporting students, teachers, and parents
Treat all building stakeholders with kindness and respect
Support all office functions in a fast-paced environment
Answer incoming phone calls
Skilled in word processing and spreadsheet creation/management
Assist in recording and managing student attendance
Dispense student medication according to District policy
Assist students with personal care as needed
Monitor building visitors
Assist teachers and students with their needs
Help facilitate Fire/Tornado/Lockdown Drills
Communicate with all building stakeholders regularly
Support the principal and all office functions as needed
Additional duties as assigned by supervisor
Employment Qualifications

EDUCATION: This position requires knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired through the completion of a high school diploma or an Associate's degree in a related field.
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of one to three years of progressively more responsible or expansive secretarial experience in a public education setting is preferred.

Remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District
Preferred:
Knowledge of school software systems
Experience working in a school district
Experience as a school secretary
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus, especially due to concentration on a computer screen and small numbers.
