Custodian Temporary Position
The district is seeking custodians for a temporary position during the Extended School Year term, June and July 2026. Qualified candidates must be a current student at Morton High School. If an applicant is considered for hire, the district will arrange for a pre-employment physical and criminal background check at no cost to the applicant, which must be completed before the start date.
Pay Rates:
Students under 18: $15.00/hr.
Adult Students: $16.00/hr.
Returning Adult Students: $16.50/hr.-$17.50/hr.
Selected candidates will assist in the summer cleaning of schools and moving furniture to ensure that the buildings are in excellent condition when students and staff return to school in mid-August. Hours will follow the extended school year schedule.
Essential Job Functions:
Summer employees must attend training sessions during the first week of employment.
Perform major cleaning tasks such as vacuuming, wet-mopping, sweeping, dusting, emptying trash (lifting waste paper and debris - minimum of 20 lbs.), cleaning and disinfecting drinking fountains.
Wash windows and sills (door glass).
Clean restrooms, including floors and all fixtures (i.e.: urinals, toilets, sinks, mirrors, partitions, and counters). Ensure restrooms are clean and disinfected.
Perform ongoing tasks such as replacing light bulbs (climbing ladders), filling dispensers, and setting up facilities for student and adult use (lifting furniture, boxes, and tables).
Ensure that all doors and windows are appropriately locked.
Must be able to walk up and down stairs frequently, as well as regular bending and standing as needed in a daily shift.
Assist in major clean-up in summer, such as washing desks and chairs, washing down walls, stripping and waxing floors, etc.
Pull weeds, keep grounds free of rubbish and perform minor landscape maintenance.
Other duties as assigned.
