
Fleet Administrator

Position Summary
The Fleet Administrator at the City of Tucson’s General Services Department oversees the Fleet Services division. This position plans, organizes, budgets, and directs daily operations of the Department's Fleet Services division by performing administrative duties and overseeing services, programs, and/or projects.
Work Environment
Work schedule may require early mornings, late evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime. Work takes place in an office/administrative environment as well as onsite maintenance and repair shop environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
Directs and organizes activities and programs within the area of responsibility, determines and authorizes policies, and provides overall direction of the assigned division.
Supervises daily operations by setting goals and objectives, managing schedules and work priorities, monitoring performance, facilitating access to resources and training, providing guidance, addressing issues, conducting interviews, and making hiring decisions.
Leads and motivates a division of 75+ employees in vehicle maintenance and fueling service delivery.
Oversees scheduling of maintenance and repair of all city vehicles, supporting continued service delivery by city departments.
Manages the city’s fueling program that provides liquid fuel (unleaded and diesel), CNG, and propane to support city operations.
Ensures fleet operations including the fuel program comply with regulations and that all related records are accurate and up to date.
Communicates with department leadership and customer departments on progress of work.
Prepares reports, establishes performance metrics, and investigates and resolves problems.
Communicates with personnel to resolve problems, establish priorities, evaluate requirements, and determine needed resources.
Uses data to monitor performance, identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, optimize utilization, and investment in the city’s fleet.
Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree.
Five (5) years of relevant experience.
Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis.
Valid and unrestricted Arizona Class D Driver License.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience with asset management and maintenance operations.
Experience working in an asset management system.
