Responsibilities
Lead and supervise underground construction crews in the installation of fiber and utility infrastructure, including trenching, directional boring, conduit placement, and cable installation.
Drive daily production activities to meet or exceed project timelines, production goals, and customer expectations
Coordinate crew assignments, equipment, and materials to ensure efficient workflow and minimal downtime
Read and interpret prints, plans, and locates to ensure accurate and compliant construction
Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company safety standards and promote a strong safety-first culture in the field
Perform job site inspections to maintain quality control and ensure work meets company and client specifications
Identify field challenges (e.g., locates, access issues, bore path conflicts) and develop real-time solutions to keep projects moving forward
Communicate regularly with Supervisors, Project Managers, and clients regarding job status, production, and any issues impacting delivery
Track and report daily production, crew performance, and job progress accurately
Mentor and develop crew members, helping build bench strength for future leads and foremen
Qualifications
3-5+ years of experience in underground utility, fiber, or telecommunications construction.
Prior experience in a leadership role (Foreman, Lead, or Crew Lead) with responsibility for crew performance and job execution
Strong knowledge of underground construction methods including trenching, directional drilling/boring, and conduit/fiber installation
Ability to read and interpret construction prints, utility locates, and job documentation
Proven ability to manage crews, prioritize work, and meet production goals in a fast-paced environment
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions in the field
Effective communication skills to coordinate with crews, leadership, and external stakeholders
Valid Driver’s License required; CDL preferred
Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus
Physical Abilities & Exposures
Routinely: climb stairs, complete and maintain training, use keyboard/mouse, lift up to 55 pounds without assistance, stand, walk, work alone in remote locations, operate vehicles
Occasionally: bend/stoop, perform repetitive hand movements, use portable ladders, work at heights, occasional entry into attics and crawl spaces, operate heavy machinery
