Description
We are seeking a Weekend On Call Registered Nurse to join our dynamic hospice team. The Weekend Registered Nurse provides compassionate, patient-centered nursing care to hospice patients and their families during weekend hours. This role is ideal for an experienced RN who values autonomy, strong clinical judgment, and meaningful end-of-life care. The Weekend RN ensures continuity of care, responds to patient needs, and supports interdisciplinary team goals while maintaining hospice philosophy and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

Provide skilled nursing care to hospice patients in home, assisted living, or skilled nursing facility settings

Perform comprehensive assessments, symptom management, and pain control interventions

Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and hospice standards

Educate patients and families on disease progression, comfort measures, and end-of-life expectations

Collaborate with physicians, on-call staff, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care

Respond to urgent patient needs and participate in on-call coverage as assigned

Accurately document patient care, assessments, and interventions in the electronic medical record

Ensure compliance with hospice regulations and agency policies

Provide emotional support to patients and caregivers during end-of-life transitions

Qualifications
1. Must be a graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.

2. Must be licensed in the State of Massachusetts.

3. One year of RN experience. Hospice experience preferred.

4. Must have excellent assessment skills and problem solving skills.

5. Should be skillful in organization and in the principles of time management and have knowledge of case management processes.

6. Must be a licensed driver with an insured automobile in good working order.

7. The ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writing.

8. Must have no exceptions to RN license, and be able to administer pharmaceuticals, perform medication reconciliation, and any nursing procedures or special treatments needed within the scope of nursing practice for state. All skills to be competencies before actual hands on patient care, and when procedures or treatments are not usually performed.
