ED Nurse - Part Time Night - Faulkner

Site: Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital, Inc.

Schedule: 24‑hour night shift every other weekend and holidays per hospital policy.

Job Summary
In the ED, you will provide immediate acute care to patients, triage, assess, treat, and document care. The ED has 29 beds with 24‑hour access to X‑rays, CTs, ultrasounds, and MRIs and is a Primary Stroke Center.

As a Registered Nurse, registered in Massachusetts, you are responsible for planning and providing patient care for assigned patients per Nursing Standards of Care, demonstrating initiative, knowledge, and clinical skill, and working directly with the Nursing Director or supervisor.

Essential Functions

Maintain a safe environment and intervene on patient risk factors.

Participate in product trials for safety evaluation.

Use nursing judgment to safely implement physician orders and notify concerns.

Promote organizational ethics, respect and support diversity, and serve as a patient and family advocate.

Resolve patient conflicts through interdisciplinary meetings or ethics committee.

Delegate responsibilities to unit ancillary staff and use staff development to meet educational needs.

Charge Nurse responsibilities: coordinate nursing activities, serve as clinical resource, assist in staffing decisions, and complete reports.

Document patient care, assessments, flow sheets, and interventions in Meditech; record patient responses and incidents.

Collaborate with all health‑care team members; maintain teamwork within the department.

Incorporate patient/family education into plans of care; record teaching and complete discharge instructions.

Maintain compliance with hospital, nursing, and unit competencies; pursue continuing education.

Participate in quality improvement, audit, and revise care based on QI findings.

Accurately assess patients, implement treatments, dispense medications, and update plans of care.

Engage in interdisciplinary rounds.

Continuum Of Care

Initiate and coordinate interdisciplinary care planning with other services (Case Review, Dietary, PT, OT, Social Service, Psychiatry).

Participate in post‑hospital care planning with Case Review.

Qualifications

BSN required.

Massachusetts Registered Nurse Licensure required.

BLS certification required.

ACLS certification required before end of orientation; cannot practice independently without ACLS.

PALS preferred.

ED experience strongly preferred.

2 years telemetry experience preferred.

Good interpersonal and communication skills.
