
Industrial Maintenance Technician

PRIMARY PURPOSE
The Industrial Maintenance Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining a variety of production equipment in a steel manufacturing environment. This role is primarily focused on diagnosing and fixing machinery issues to minimize downtime and support production efficiency, while also performing some facility maintenance as needed. The technician utilizes a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to prioritize, track, and complete work orders. A strong commitment to safety is essential in all aspects of this role.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Troubleshooting & Repair
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on production equipment
Perform hands‑on troubleshooting to quickly identify root causes of machine failures
Execute timely repairs to minimize downtime and maintain production flow
Work on a variety of equipment including presses, welders, lasers, and fabrication machinery
Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) tasks on equipment
Identify potential issues before failure and recommend corrective actions
Assist in developing and improving PM programs
Work Order Management (CMMS)
Utilize CMMS to receive, prioritize, and complete maintenance work orders
Accurately document repairs, parts used, and downtime in the system
Communicate status updates and elevate critical issues as needed
Facility & General Maintenance
Perform basic building and facility maintenance (lighting, fixtures, misc. repairs.)
Support overall plant upkeep while maintaining primary focus on production equipment
Safety & Compliance
Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), machine guarding, and OSHA standards
Identify and report unsafe conditions or behaviors
Maintain a strong safety‑first mindset in all tasks
Collaboration & Support
Work closely with production teams to address equipment issues quickly
Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding maintenance needs
Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase equipment reliability
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED (technical training preferred)
3+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
Experience using a CMMS or similar system to manage work orders
Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
Strong commitment to safety practices and procedures
Ability to lift up to 55 lbs. on a regular basis and work in a physically demanding environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in steel or heavy manufacturing environments
PLC troubleshooting experience
Welding or fabrication experience
Forklift or overhead crane experience
Exposure to lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices

Complete work orders accurately and in a timely manner
Maintain high level of equipment reliability
Support production goals through responsive maintenance
Adhere to all safety standards and promote safe work practices
Maintain organized and accurate maintenance records
COMPENSATION
Competitive Hourly Pay based on experience and shift.
Overtime will be required.
