Description
The client is seeking a Construction Coordinator (Contract) to support a high volume of healthcare construction projects within active medical facilities. This role sits within the Planning, Design & Construction organization and is critical to ensuring that work is executed safely, compliantly, and according to approved scope in complex, live environments.
The Construction Coordinator serves as the boots‑on‑the‑ground, field‑based extension of the project management team. Unlike a Project Manager, this role does not manage budgets, contracts, or overall scope. Instead, it focuses on job site presence, safety, compliance, and real‑time reporting, acting as the "eyes and ears" across multiple projects.
This is a contract opportunity designed to immediately add field capacity and protect project execution without overburdening existing PMs.

Daily Responsibilities
Walk and inspect assigned job sites within active healthcare facilities
Observe contractor work to ensure compliance with scope, safety, and standards
Monitor infection control practices, shutdowns, and safety procedures
Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders onsite
Document observations, issues, and progress for Project Managers
Flag scheduling, safety, or scope concerns early to prevent escalation
Support after‑hours or weekend needs as required through on‑call rotation

Environment: Active hospital and healthcare construction settings. Project Volume: Supporting a department managing ~100 active projects. Impact – Provides immediate field‑level visibility and control, reduces safety and compliance risk, ensures higher execution quality, and allows PMs to focus on oversight and stakeholder management.

7–10 years preferred; candidates with ~5 years may be considered if heavily healthcare‑focused; 5–10+ years working on commercial or healthcare job sites; 5+ years in regulated construction environments; Prior exposure to healthcare safety and infection control strongly preferred; Prior experience in on‑call/off‑hour roles preferred.
Additional Skills & Qualifications (Optional / Nice to Have)
Education & Certifications (Preferred, Not Required): High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field is a plus but not required; OSHA‑10 or OSHA‑30 certification strongly preferred; Additional safety or healthcare compliance training beneficial.
Relevant Backgrounds & Experience: Prior experience in healthcare, hospital, or medical facility construction environments highly desired; Institutional construction experience considered relevant if healthcare experience limited; Backgrounds may include construction coordinator, field coordinator, assistant superintendent, senior trade professional, or similar field‑heavy roles.
Construction & Safety Knowledge: Familiarity with infection control practices, interim life safety measures, shutdown coordination; Understanding of contractor sequencing, site logistics, and basic construction schedules; Ability to recognize and evaluate scope/ safety issues.
Technology & Documentation: Comfort with basic construction documentation; familiarity with Procore, Kahua, e‑Builder.
Work Style & Availability
Comfortable working onsite full time in active facilities
Willingness to participate in on‑call rotation including nights/weekends; hours balanced across week, no overtime.
Strong sense of ownership, reliability, ability to work independently while staying aligned with PMs
