Job Summary
As a
Training Specialist
in the Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) based in Peoria, IL, you will support the design, development, and delivery of technical training modules and courses in Applied Failure Analysis, Large Bore Engines, Print Reading, and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) for dealers, customers, and internal employees to maintain and enhance technical competence.
What You Will Do
Develop and deliver instructor‑led technical training in Applied Failure Analysis, Large Bore Engines, Print Reading, and GD&T.
Design, update, and maintain technically accurate course materials, assessments, and hands‑on lab activities in collaboration with instructional designers and subject‑matter experts.
Conduct technician competency and skills assessments; analyze results to identify gaps and drive targeted training improvements.
Ensure training delivery and materials comply with technical standards, safety requirements, and organizational policies.
Evaluate training effectiveness using performance metrics and ROI data; implement continuous improvements.
Partner with product and industry teams to align training with current products, strategies, and operational initiatives.
Maintain training labs, tooling, and equipment; support updates and capital equipment planning.
Collaborate with the global instructor network to standardize content, share best practices, and improve program effectiveness.

Technical Expertise: High level understanding of engine systems: Air & Exhaust, Fuel, Cooling, Lubrication, and electrical systems.
Preferred Skills
5+ years of experience as a technician, technical support, and classroom instructor, or related experience.
Mechanical degree, apprenticeship, or comparable job experience.
Understanding of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), electrical and mechanical safety practices.
Caterpillar Instructor Accreditation Program (CIAP) certification or ability to complete within six months.
Proven ability to deliver technical training to diverse, multi‑cultural audiences.
Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills, including experience with ET, SIS, and TMI.
Working knowledge of Caterpillar generator sets and control systems.
Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and high instructional standards.
Strong computer skills with experience developing training materials (desktop publishing).
Location & Travel
Peoria, IL (United States). Required travel up to 25%. No relocation assistance. No US work authorization sponsorship offered.
Salary Range
$89,210.00 – $133,810.00
