Philanthropy Officer
Position within Terry College of Distance & Alumni Relations; responsible for developing major gift prospects and securing significant donations in support of Terry College’s strategic plan.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent and 2 years of professional experience.
Position Summary
Develop and manage a portfolio of Terry College major gift prospects, focusing on $50,000+ solicitations and tracking key metrics such as number of major gift asks, revenue secured, and number of closed gifts.
Plan, prepare, and follow up on all prospect visits, documenting interactions in the GAIL alumni/donor database within one week.
Prepare timely, strategic, and compelling proposals to secure major ($50K+) and principal ($1M+) gifts supporting Terry’s priorities.
Direct strategy for at least one fundraising priority and guide departments through the philanthropic process.
Collaborate with Terry College and UGA colleagues to match donor interests to institutional priorities.
Serve on the Philanthropy Team, working with principal gifts, major gifts, and donor relations, with additional support from a Terry College prospect management professional.
Perform additional duties such as supporting alumni weekend events, football games, and other special events, often on evenings and weekends.
Attend monthly prospect strategy/staff meetings, University Development staff meetings, and select University Central Development trainings.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and/or Competencies
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills; demonstrated relationship building and/or sales and marketing experience; ability to solve problems; impeccable character; and the ability to work in a team environment.
Physical Demands
Some light lifting for events.

Driving is a responsibility of this position.
This is a position of trust and the holder has access to and control of financial resources.
A credit check is required for this position.
A background investigation and, if applicable, a pre‑employment drug test will be required.
