Job Summary
This is a 12‑month, full‑time research grant position with benefits as part of South Carolina Child Care Resource & Referral (SC CCR&R) hosted at the USC College of Education Child Development Research Center. The role is field‑based in Charleston County, serving center, school‑age, and family child‑care programs in the Lowcountry Region. Responsibilities include providing technical assistance and professional development to early childhood programs, collaborating with partner agencies to coordinate services, conducting on‑site visits, and delivering services outside typical business hours (evenings and weekends). Candidates must obtain two approvals within 12 months of employment: South Carolina Certified Trainer Credential and South Carolina Certified Technical Assistance Provider.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, or a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, or a degree in an education‑related field with a minimum of 18 credit hours documented on the transcript of core coursework in Early Childhood Education.
Experience as an employee/owner of an early childhood setting (center‑based, family‑based) serving infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.
Experience conducting adult/family education trainings and providing technical assistance to implement program quality standards in an early childhood education setting.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Knowledge of or demonstrated experience in the provision of technical assistance and training to child care providers in topics that include business start‑up and planning, acquiring licensing status, maintaining quality services, and resolving corrective action plans.
Knowledge of SC Child Care licensing requirements and ABC standards, and awareness of community services for children.
Knowledge and experience in using tools to develop online training/courses/tutorials.
Excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills and computer skills that include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and web‑based software applications; ability to lift 50 lbs.
Ability to maintain reliable transportation to conduct on‑site visits and perform other job duties.
Hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
