
ED Patient Registration Representative

Overview
The ED Patient Registration Representative plays a pivotal role as part of the Revenue Cycle Operations team when interacting with patients and registering them for their care. The role accurately performs a variety of administrative duties required for patient registration, including entering essential demographic and insurance information, collecting copays, obtaining required signatures, and resolving errors on accounts before they are sent for billing. As a liaison to patients, the community, and healthcare professionals, this position requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills to ensure delivery of the highest quality customer service. The emergency department team works in a high‑volume, fast‑paced environment with medical emergencies, including cardiac complaints, stroke symptoms, traumas, and other emergencies. The position requires the ability to provide extraordinary and compassionate customer service to patients and family members presenting to the emergency department. Our team initiates the arrival process at the welcome desk and completes the registration at the patient’s bedside after the patient has seen a care provider. ED registration staff partner with the clinical staff to help patients receive personal attention and care as efficiently as possible.
Responsibilities
Enter and verify patient demographic and insurance information.
Collect copays and obtain required signatures.
Resolve errors on patient accounts before billing.
Provide excellent customer service and communication to patients, families, and staff.
Initiate the arrival process at the welcome desk.
Complete registration at the patient’s bedside after provider assessment.
Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure efficient care.
Qualifications
Licensure: Not Applicable
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required
Experience: 1 year healthcare registration required
