
Cardiac Sonographer

Job Summary
Under direct supervision of the Cardiology Nurse Manager or preceptor, the Cardiac Sonographer accurately performs echocardiograms on all patients, including infants, adolescents and adults. The role includes analyzing findings and providing calculations to aid the physician in delivering appropriate care. Additional duties include assisting with stress testing, trans‑esophageal echocardiograms, patent foramen ovale closures, and other tasks assigned by the Cardiology Nurse Manager to ensure the department runs effectively and efficiently, including maintenance of patient records. The Cardiac Sonographer may also perform outreach activities and must respond within 30 minutes when on stand‑by.
Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited ultrasound program. Five years’ experience in sonography and required licensure upon hire may substitute for graduation from an accredited program.
American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS required upon hire.
Certification with ARDMS (RDCS) or CCI (RCS) recommended upon hire and required within one year of hire.
One year of experience preferred.
