Piedmont Health, Newnan, GA, United States
Piedmont Healthcare is seeking a compassionate and skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team within our statewide network of hospitals and care locations. In this role, you will provide high-quality respiratory care to patients across the continuum, including those in emergency, inpatient, critical care, and procedural settings. Working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team, you will assess, plan, and implement individualized respiratory care plans, perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and support safe and effective ventilation and oxygenation for patients of varying ages and clinical conditions.
The Respiratory Therapist will be responsible for performing and interpreting respiratory assessments, administering medications and treatments via aerosol and other delivery systems, initiating and managing invasive and non‑invasive mechanical ventilation, and responding to respiratory emergencies such as rapid responses and codes. You will perform arterial blood gas sampling and analysis, adjust ventilator settings based on clinical status and established protocols, and document all care accurately and in a timely manner in the electronic medical record. You will also educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, equipment use, medication regimens, and strategies to optimize lung function and quality of life.
Aligned with Piedmont Healthcare’s mission and culture, this position is ideal for a Respiratory Therapist who values patient‑centered care, evidence‑based practice, and continuous improvement. You will participate in multidisciplinary rounds, contribute to care planning, and help implement clinical protocols that support quality, safety, and positive patient outcomes. The role offers opportunities to precept and mentor new team members, participate in performance improvement initiatives, and engage in ongoing education and professional development.
Piedmont Healthcare fosters a culture of respect, innovation, and teamwork, and you will be supported by a collaborative environment that encourages learning and growth. As a non‑profit healthcare system serving communities across Georgia, Piedmont offers Respiratory Therapists the chance to care for diverse patient populations, from routine medical‑surgical cases to complex critical care and post‑operative patients. This position is well‑suited for professionals who are adaptable, detail‑oriented, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced, 24/7 clinical environment.
In addition to your clinical responsibilities, you will help maintain and troubleshoot respiratory equipment, ensure proper infection control and safety practices, and support compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and professional guidelines. You will work primarily on‑site in a hospital‑based setting, with the potential to rotate through different units depending on operational needs. Through access to robust training resources, certification support, and career advancement pathways, Piedmont Healthcare provides a strong foundation for Respiratory Therapists to develop advanced skills and grow within the organization while making a meaningful impact on patients, families, and the communities we serve.
