
Patient Care Assistant/Nurse Assistant/Certified Nursing Assistant-Cardiac Telem

Overview
Works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager or Director in the personal care of patients and their environment (including those requiring special precautions). Performs specified functions where competency has been validated, including simple wound care (cleaning abrasions/lacerations), EKGs, peripheral INT removal, basic phlebotomy, and extremity splinting. In addition, this role must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care to patients in the assigned unit. The individual must understand the principles of growth and development over the life span and provide care in accordance with departmental policy and procedure. Promotes and maintains a safe work environment for staff and customers, incorporating national patient safety initiatives.

What You Will Do
Demonstrate understanding and knowledge of the technology systems necessary for patient data collection into EMR.
Follow the plan of care to perform treatments and procedures competently and independently under RN direction, including vital signs, ice application, compresses, EKGs, drawing blood, specimen collection, and other unit-specific procedures.
Accurately complete all required clinical and quality documentation consistently per RHS standards and regulatory requirements.
Ensure availability of resources—equipment, instruments, supplies—to support positive patient outcomes, and maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work and patient environment by cleaning work stations and equipment, stocking supplies, and storing equipment properly.
Accept direction from the charge nurse to assist with admission, discharge, or transfer of patients in a timely and efficient manner.
Education
High School Diploma or GED (Preferred)
Experience
1 year prior health care experience in a hospital setting (Preferred)
Licenses and Certifications
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Virginia Department of Health Professions—Upon Hire (Required)
EMT‑B (Basic), Virginia Department of Health Professions or National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians—Upon Hire (Required)
Medical Assistant Program Graduate—Upon Hire (Required)
Currently enrolled in an LPN or RN nursing program with 80 hours completed—Upon Hire (Required)
Nurse Assistant
Transcripts or letter stating the candidate has completed 1 semester of an RN nursing program, and BLS certification required.
