Responsible for supporting efficient clinic operations and high-quality patient care through a combination of clinical and administrative duties. This role includes maintaining cleanliness and organization of exam rooms, rooming patients, and completing standard intake procedures such as reviewing medications, medical, surgical, and family history, and documenting allergies.

The Medical Assistant supports providers by accurately documenting in the electronic medical record (Epic), including chart note creation using dot phrases, and assisting with ICD-10 and CPT coding. This role is also responsible for pending medication orders to the provider with appropriate pharmacy selection and associated diagnoses, as well as pending and processing pathology orders, lab orders, and other diagnostic studies as directed.

Responsibilities include preparing for and assisting during in-office procedures, drawing lidocaine, maintaining sterile fields, and applying appropriate bandages or pressure dressings. Additional clinical duties include ensuring proper preparation and handling of supplies needed for patient care.

Responsible for stocking exam rooms, managing monthly supply orders, and auditing inventory for expiration dates. This role also includes maintaining required lab and OSHA documentation, including logs for equipment such as microscopes, eyewash stations, and autoclaves, as well as sample tracking logs. Participation in monthly OSHA checklists, monthly safety meetings, quarterly OSHA meetings, and ongoing super user training is required.

Administrative responsibilities include making and returning patient calls in a timely manner, communicating test results, sending referrals, scanning incoming medical records, preparing patient charts, assisting with incoming calls, and monitoring faxes. The Medical Assistant is also responsible for ensuring proper handling and disposal of biohazard and chemical waste according to established protocols and may be required to assist at additional clinic locations as needed.

Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations. Maintains patient confidence and protect operations by keeping patient care information confidential. Understands and adheres to the legal responsibilities and requirements with the medical assistant role. Demonstrates comprehension and support of quality measures and patient experience.

Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Associate Degree and/or Certified/Registered MA preferred. Graduate of a Medical Assistant program or previous

Medical Assisting experience required.

Years of experience: 2 to 5 years MA or other relevant experience preferred; Practice in different care settings (eg. Primary care, Specialty, EMT, etc.).

Required skills and knowledge: Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Excel, EMR and scheduling systems) required. Strong verbal and social skills to facilitate working respectfully with patients, physicians, visitors, co‑workers, and drug reps in person or by telephone required. Ability and willingness to travel to other physician offices as requested or needed. Complementary clinical skills such as phlebotomy, performing EKGs, stitches removal, splinting, etc. are highly preferred.

Licenses & Certifications
Certified/Registered MA preferred. Must successfully complete skills orientation. BLS certification required.
