Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) to serve as the clinical and regulatory leader of a growing long-term care pharmacy. This role is responsible for ensuring full compliance with federal and state regulations while supporting safe, efficient, and high-quality pharmaceutical services for long-term care facilities.
The PIC will act as the designated pharmacist with the Board of Pharmacy and play a key role in operational oversight, team leadership, and clinical collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory & Compliance Oversight
Serve as the designated Pharmacist-in-Charge per Board of Pharmacy requirements
Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations (DEA, Board of Pharmacy, CMS)
Oversee controlled substance management and inventory compliance
Maintain pharmacy licenses, documentation, and regulatory readiness
Ensure HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality standards
Implement and manage quality assurance programs for long-term care pharmacy services
Clinical & Operational Support
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and facility staff
Provide medication therapy consultation for long-term care residents
Support safe medication use and clinical decision-making
Assist with workflow oversight and daily pharmacy operations
Participate in staffing coverage as needed
Support the team during high-volume or short-staffed situations
Schedule & Work Structure
Full-time position
Primarily daytime schedule
5-day work week preferred
Rotating weekend coverage (approximately every 4th weekend)
Occasional additional coverage as needed
Education & Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)
Licensure
Active Minnesota Pharmacist license in good standing
Eligible to serve as Pharmacist-in-Charge
Experience
Minimum 3-5 years of pharmacist experience
Prior long-term care pharmacy experience required
Previous PIC or leadership experience required
Preferred Skills
Strong understanding of long-term care pharmacy workflows
Knowledge of geriatric pharmacotherapy
Experience with pharmacy management systems
Strong regulatory and compliance expertise
Excellent organizational and leadership abilities
Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams
Additional Notes
Long-term care experience is required
Candidates must be currently based in Minnesota (no relocation support available)
