The Occupational Therapist will provide direct professional therapy services to oncology patients in either an inpatient or outpatient setting. This posting represents both our inpatient and outpatient openings.
Cancer and its treatments can sometimes have lasting effects on daily performance including physical, cognitive, emotional and social functioning. The Department of Rehabilitation Services has more than 100 oncology rehabilitation professionals and staff dedicated to optimizing the physical abilities and quality of life of people affected by cancer. Rehabilitation Services offers physical therapy and occupational therapy for patients of all ages and with any type of cancer who are experiencing problems related to cancer or the side effects of surgery, chemotherapy or radiation treatment. Rehabilitation services are available to all MD Anderson patients who need help regaining physical function.
Essential Job Functions

Conduct patient consultation, evaluation, program planning and treatment to restore function, relieve pain, promote healing, prevent disability and/or facilitate adaptation to permanent disability.
Review patient referrals and medical records.
Contribute to performance improvement and quality management tasks.
Participate in patient and student education.
Assist in orientation of new employees and volunteers.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Advanced degree in Occupational Therapy and current license to practice Occupational Therapy in Texas issued by the Executive Council of Occupational Therapy Examiners.
Availability Monday–Friday 8 a.m.–5 p.m. with one weekend day required per month for inpatient, plus a flex day during the week leading up to that weekend.
Experience: None required, but advanced degree preferred.
Licenses/Certifications: Registered Licensed Occupational Therapist in Texas; CPR certification upon hire.
Salary

Minimum: $89,000 – Midpoint: $111,000 – Maximum: $133,000
