Position Description
The Guna lab, a research group in Biochemistry and Biophysics within the School of Medicine at UC San Francisco, seeks a Junior or Assistant Specialist. Candidate will use cutting‑edge functional genomics and biochemical techniques to investigate how membrane proteins are synthesized in human cells. Responsibilities include designing and executing experiments, recording data, and interpreting findings with a strong emphasis on developing skills relevant for both academic and industry roles. Techniques used include CRISPR screening, protein purification, cell culture, and in‑vitro assays.
Required Qualifications
Baccalaureate degree (or equivalent) or at least four years of research experience for Junior rank.
Master’s degree (or equivalent) or baccalaureate degree plus three or more years of research experience for Assistant rank.
Good time‑management, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with cloning, mammalian tissue culture, flow cytometry, protein expression and purification.
Salary
Salary ranges from $55,000 to $70,700. See Table 24B for details.
