Job Description
Parkersburg Elementary (grades PK-2nd) is located in Parkersburg, Iowa, about 30 minutes from Cedar Valley. It is looking for a compassionate, collaborative, and student‑centered Transitional Kindergarten Teacher for the 2026‑2027 school year.
Parkersburg Elementary serves approximately 180 students.
Interviews for this position will begin immediately as our principal will be on maternity leave soon.
Position Summary:
The teacher candidate will teach in our Transitional Kindergarten classroom, working in collaboration with the kindergarten team as needed. The candidate will plan, organize, and present instruction to teach students in accordance with required district and state standards. They will create a warm and welcoming classroom environment focused on student engagement, creativity, and inclusion.
Required Qualifications
Candidates must hold a current State of Iowa Teaching License.
Bachelor’s degree in a position‑related area.
Previous teaching experience preferred.
Endorsement requirement: one of the following:
K‑6 Teacher Elementary Classroom
PK‑3 Teacher, PK‑3 Classroom
Performance Responsibilities
Implements best practices and instructional resources to enhance student learning in alignment with state and district standards.
Evaluates individual and class performance using assessment data to adjust instruction for continuous improvement.
Maintains documentation and required data to support student progress and compliance.
Manages classroom structure, procedures, and behavioral expectations to create a positive, safe, and orderly learning environment.
Models professional and ethical behavior in alignment with district and state standards.
Demonstrates respect and professionalism in all interactions with colleagues, students, and families.
Use positive and professional communication in all interactions.
Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned.
Support District goals and objectives while adhering to all District policies, contributing to the overall success of the school community.
Demonstrate regular and dependable attendance to ensure smooth District operations.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
